Producing institutional films for the General Entertainment Authority.
The General Entertainment Authority commissioned Updated Perspective Marketing Group to produce a series of institutional and campaign films documenting Saudi Arabia's entertainment transformation under Vision 2030 — for use in government communications, international media, and public engagement campaigns.
The Challenge
Institutional film production for a government authority requires navigating multiple approval layers, strict brand governance standards, and content sensitivities unique to the Saudi public sector. The films needed to balance authentic storytelling with the formal communication requirements of a government entity — a combination that requires both creative sophistication and institutional understanding. Delivery timelines were tied to major public events, leaving no room for production delays.
Our Approach
We assembled a bilingual production team — directors, scriptwriters, camera operators, and post-production editors fluent in both Arabic and English — and developed a detailed pre-production framework that incorporated approval checkpoints at concept, script, rough cut, and final cut stages. Filming locations spanned Riyadh, Jeddah, and AlUla, with aerial drone footage capturing the scale of Saudi Arabia's entertainment transformation. All films were produced in Arabic-primary versions with English subtitle and voice-over variants.
The Outcome
The film series generated over 2 million organic views across GEA's official channels and was screened at three international film festivals as part of Saudi Arabia's cultural diplomacy programme. The production quality was cited by GEA communications as setting a new benchmark for government institutional film in the Kingdom.
